The best things you read, watched, played, or listened to in 2020

Here’s mine…

  • Atomic Habits - Systems over goals. That is the main lesson.
  • How to be Black - Comedy is such a create vehicle for discussing difficult topics, and this book proves it. I think it’s a great starter book for white people who want to educate themselves on racism.

  • Glengarry Glen Ross - I finally got around to watching it after all these years. Different than I expected. Felt more like a play than a movie, but I really liked it. And that Alec Baldwin scene is just a classic.
  • The Morning Show - This was insanely good. Can’t wait for season 2.
  • The Movies that Made Us - Fun series on Netflix that goes behind the scenes on some of my favorite movies.
  • The Irishman - Scorsese, De Niro, Pacino, and Pesci. Need I say more.
  • Quincy - Documentary about Quincy Jones. Instant favorite.
  • The Last Dance - Documentary about Michael Jordan. Another instant favorite!
  • The Good Place - Finished the final season and all I can say is wow. Such a unique show.

  • The Last of Us: Part 2 - I’ve been playing this since it came out, but slowly. I still haven’t finished. It’s a really long game and it’s living up to my expectations. Also, clickers scare me.

Listened to

  • Cortex - Stumbled upon a few episodes this year when they talked about note-taking apps and I ended up staying. Really like the dynamic between the hosts.
  • Dithering - I subscribed to this over the summer and don’t regret it.
  • City of the Future - This is a newer one that I found in the past month. Lot’s of cool stuff I’m learning about how people are thinking about improving the places we live.

Shows I loved:

  • The Mandalorian - Made me excited about Star Wars again
  • Cobra Kai - Karate Kid in modern day
  • Hannibal - Prequel to Silence of the Lambs
  • Next - About AI taking over the world
  • Beware the Batman - Awesome animated series
  • Devs - Crazy, hipster, AI shit. Must watch.
  • West World - Season 3 is in the future modern world

Movies I enjoyed:

  • The Irishman - Mobster type shit.
  • Kajillionaire - Homeless family that are “pro” thieves

This looks great, just added to my pile.

I loved season 1, but really struggled through season 2. Is it worth coming back to this?

This movie felt like the end of an era. All those guys probably won’t work together again. Really loved it.

I know people feel indifferent about WW progress. I’m personally still into it. Cool to see the action in the “real world”

I feel similarly about WW Season 3. I actually really enjoyed it, but it is def a different show from WW S1.

I’m sure to forget something, but off the top of my head.

The best thing I saw all year was probably The Boys, Season 2. Some other great TV:

Perry Mason
Lovecraft Country
Mandalorian S2
Killing Eve S3
Ted Lasso (still in the middle of it and loving it)

I’m sure there’s more. Less on the movie front, but…

Be Water (Bruce Lee doc, fantastic)
Da Five Bloods (Spike Lee does “Treasure of the Sierra Madre”)
The Trial of the Chicago 7
Bacurau (wonderfully unpredictable genre flick from Brazil)
Between the World and Me

That’s all for now, I’m sure I’ll think of more.

Oooo nice I need to put Be Water on my list. I forgot about that one :boom:

Oh did season 3 move away from the western setting? If so, I’m intrigued.

Some great ones here to add to my list

I keep hearing great things about Ted Lasso. I really need to watch it.

@patrickhickman4 was telling me about how good The Boys is. I remember the lead guy from Lord of The Rings.

Yea they basically “escaped” WW

i only read onlne assignments :expressionless: watch only online classes :no_mouth:and listen online lectures in 2020 :disappointed_relieved:

Nothing wrong with that! I find my habits for reading, watching, etc ebb and flow over time. Also, school is a lot of work
